Sport Court Flooring

Sport court flooring can be comprised of a variety of materials, but epoxy is by far the best choice. Particularly if your sport court is outdoors, the water-resistant nature of epoxy coatings can translate to greater longevity than traditional alternatives. What makes epoxy so ideal for sport courts beyond its high durability, however, is its tendency to be skid, scratch, and slip resistant.

When you are on the court, the last thing you want to be thinking about is if you will be able to maintain your footing. With that concern eliminated, your attention next turns to the floor’s hardness. Because epoxy is so frequently utilized in garages, showrooms, and basements, a necessary property of these coatings is a high tensile strength. For sport court flooring, this effectively means that epoxies naturally have a degree of impact resistance as well. In layman's terms, the use of epoxy can decrease the likelihood of sports-related injury by reducing the impact when returning to the ground from jumps or falls.

If your sport court is outside, you will also be happy to know that epoxy is resistant to both heat and cold. Withstanding temperatures as low as -250 degrees Celsius and as high as 150 degrees Celsius, the chances of your sport court flooring cracking are extremely low. Because concrete itself is prone to cracking, the water-resistant nature of epoxy provides a two-fold benefit. By preventing moisture from reaching beneath it, the coating functions as a protective layer for the concrete, as much as it is a superior surface itself.
